Bradford Talks: "Flood your community organisation with volunteers."
Our March event will be with Kay Gilbert.
"Flood your community organisation with volunteers" with Kay Gilbert.
From 7pm Thursday 21st March 2024
About the talk
We all know how hard it can be to find volunteers to give up their time. Thank fully, over the years Kay has become an expert in bringing engaged volunteers together, on a consistent basis.
In her talk, we will hear the amazing story of how a community came together and how you can attract volunteers to any project.
Specific insights include:
The importance of using effective communication & education
Why treating people like customers isn’t the right basis for community clubs
How to encourage members to contribute and;
The benefits of volunteering to the individual
About the speaker
Kay started her career in technology marketing but originally trained as a PE teacher and always had a interest in sport.
Kay's passion for Tennis sees her volunteering at all levels from her local club, through to county and national level. She also runs the Tennis Parents Community Facebook Group with over 1.4K members all of whom are the parents of junior tennis players in the GB system.
Our Venue: The Hall
We are now hosting our talks at The Hall, Holt Road, Bradford on Avon.
This Jacobean mansion is the one-time home to Dr Alex Moulton and is now cared for by the Alex Moulton Charitable Trust who have generously given us the space to meet.
There is parking for up to 8 cars at The Hall but we hope that, if you can, you will walk or cycle. It is only a 5 minute walk from The Shambles. Entry is through the ‘Eagle’ Gates on Holt Road.
Flow
Arrive from 0700pm and the first thirty minutes or so will be a chance to have a drink and have some chats.
We will start at 0730pm and finish no later than 0830pm.
There will be a donation bar at the event kindly supplied by The Hall. We suggest a minimum £5 donation which will be given directly to the Alex Moulton Charitable Trust.
After the talk, feel free to stay as long as you want, or until The Hall kicks us out.
Any questions, please get in touch with Jim Hughes or Andrew Eberlin.
